Ok, the attached jpg is a screen shot of my desktop.  3.5 monitors.

·         Outlook: Since it's not really condusive for us in IT to keep Outlook closed, like numerous time management tout that you should, I keep it open on my left-hand screen.

·         ClearContext: I have an add-in called ClearContext within Outlook, which I use to help organize incoming tasks and projects.

·         Win-Organizer: I store my working projects in this.  Although this application has a lot of good features, the item that sold me was the ability to create any number of alarms on each subtask within a given task.  I originally started out keeping all of my project info in Outlook tasks, however the fact that I could only create one alarm within it, or set up numerous calendar events, was a major drawback to me.  As I have worked with Win-Organizer, I have created templates for myself for given project or task types, to assure that steps are not missed.

·         Chrome: I have set up Google Chrome as my alternate IE browser.  I still have to use Microsoft IE for AAFES-related pages, because Chrome can't render all of the data properly.  I installed Chrome for an add-in called StayFocused that I came across a couple of months ago.  I have checked in the past and I have found no way to be able to block certain sites.  I have been wanting to do this for some time to avoid surfing and getting sidetracked.  I had tried another app some time ago, but was unable to continue using it.

·         ManicTime: This tracks what I do on my PC (see attached PNGs).  This has been great because within any given day, I move back and forth between items so much that I find it hard to track just what exactly I have done.  I installed this a few years ago when we had to be more detailed in the time we reported.  I now go and create tags every hour so that I don't have to try and remember at the end of the day what I was doing where.

·         3M Digital Post-Its: I use these post-its because I am able to add an alarm to them.  I also currently keep the information written on my white boards on them, so that they are in front of me.

·         TimeLeft: This app has reminders, notes (they don't have alarms so I only use this version of notes for a couple of things), clocks and stopwatches.  I have various reminders set up throughout the day, such as when to switch to a different type of project, etc.  Within each of those, I am also able to set numerous alarms, such as at different times of the day for a specific thing.

FW: Head First books and others on LAN

This will be great.  I’ll now have a study partner.  I had suggested to Scott that these books might be useful to Wedad and he had suggested that I suggest them to her.  This would help towards of my goals for the year.

I do, but I thought of sharing it with you since you are learning ASP.NET.

I thought that you might have already known ASP.NET.  I had picked out these for myself:

Apress.Pro.ASPNET3.5.in.C.Sharp.2008.Includes.Silverlight2.3rd.Edition.Jan.2009

Wiley.ASP.NET.3.5.For.Dummies.Feb.2008-BBL

Wedad,

The folder that I was referring to is \\galaxy\boa\E-Books\.    I thought that you might benefit from some of them.  Since I am seeking a web developer position in future, I’ll also be reading through them.  Maybe we can work through them together.

that's one nice thing about my doing these powerpoints, which i had originally done for the peer reviews: makes it much easier to verify what i think i've done.

No biggie.  I’m used to the (relatively infrequent) complaints.

At this point we don’t have any cubicles available and moving you may not work because you will still be next to others.

I’m going to be proactive and go ahead and make a formal request for a different cubicle, before whoever it is gets ticked again.  My thinking/singing/humming/etc out loud has been mentioned some 4 to 6 times in the 23 years that I have been here, so that should tell people that it won’t be correcting itself anytime soon.  I’ve got an explanation for it in one of these books on my shelf; I’ll see if I can locate it.  The simplest explanation is that my external thinking never fully became internal thinking.  It drives me crazy that I do it, so I’m sure that I tick quite a few people off.  I have to concentrate to correct it, so if I’m concentrating on working, I’m not concentrating on not voicing my thoughts.  Lol, it drives my boyfriend crazy that I sing and dance to the Muzak at the grocery store and that I don’t use the blinker when we’re in the car talking but I do it perfectly when I’m driving by myself.  Same thing.

This year's goals

Collins, Monica P. [1:08 PM]:

oh, BTW, I am back to using the D-word.

Lacy, Robert P. [1:08 PM]:

?

Collins, Monica P. [1:08 PM]:

you know, diet.

Lacy, Robert P. [1:08 PM]:

lol

thats not how it works

Collins, Monica P. [1:09 PM]:

I know.  However, my weekends are usually different when it comes to how I eat, sleep, etc.

Lacy, Robert P. [1:09 PM]:

i see

Collins, Monica P. [1:09 PM]:

Sad, but true.

I don't even take my scripts regularly on the weekends because of it.

Collins, Monica P. [1:15 PM]:

It's the difference between a 5 day plan, versus a 2 day plan.

Collins, Monica P. [1:31 PM]:

I told you that I marked what I should be working on everyday for the rest of the rating year, didn't I?

Lacy, Robert P. [1:31 PM]:

ya

Collins, Monica P. [1:31 PM]:

I calculated everything for the 'Exceeded' instead of the 'Expected'.

I've got three to get finished in the next three weeks.

Lacy, Robert P. [1:33 PM]:

dang

Collins, Monica P. [1:33 PM]:

lol, the three items are each 'this close' to being finished lol.

Collins, Monica P. [1:39 PM]:

So, how many items did you give yourself to have done by Feb 1?

Lacy, Robert P. [1:39 PM]:

a few

most of which are almost done

Collins, Monica P. [1:40 PM]:

same here.

I would really like to get those 3 I mentioned done by the end of July.  Having Exceptionals on my PGW would be really, really sweet.

Lacy, Robert P. [1:42 PM]:

yea

Collins, Monica P. [1:52 PM]:

I have the feeling that I'm gonna be putting in a lot of overtime

Lacy, Robert P. [1:53 PM]:

mmhmm

Collins, Monica P. [1:54 PM]:

If I were linear, it wouldn't be much of a problem, however, being an abstract ...

Collins, Monica P. [2:02 PM]:

hmmmm ... looks like I'm gonna have to look up what constitues an average salad size.

I just finished my salad, and I am fairly full.  I'm  guessing I shouldn't be feeling this close to bursting.

Collins, Monica P. [2:07 PM]:

lol, you should see how busy my calendars are lol

Lacy, Robert P. [2:07 PM]:

must be nice

Collins, Monica P. [2:07 PM]:

lol, um, yeah

Lacy, Robert P. [2:07 PM]:

i dont have the patience for calendars

in that i wont fill them out

or read them

Collins, Monica P. [2:08 PM]:

I normally don't either, which is why I don't know when anything is going on lol.  I'm trying a new tactic.

Collins, Monica P. [2:12 PM]:

On my left screen, behind Outlook, I've been keeping the Internet portal page and my Google Calendar page up.

I currently have my new PGW calendars residing in Evernote.  Maybe I can move all of that data to Google.  That way, I could set up a pop-up to remind me of what I'm supposed to be working on that particular day.

I like that idea.

Collins, Monica P. [2:17 PM]:

Actually, it's even better: a reminder/pop-up is far better than just having a page that I might or might not look over up.

Now I've just got to decide between my Google calendar or my Outlook one.

Collins, Monica P. [3:26 PM]:

K, I've decided: as much as I'd prefer to keep all of my work-related alarms in Outlook, I'm going to add these to GCal because it pops up each reminder in it's own box, instead of throwing them all into one box.
