‘Most people are reluctant to make changes that are imposed on them, and such forced changes are usually unsuccessful. People are far more likely to make a change successfully if they have recognized the need to do so, and appreciate the benefits that may follow.’
Those two lines just popped up in my time management course. That is so very true, and even truer for me. I practically grind to a halt when I have to do something that I do not wish to.
Are there any ADHD programmers out there? I'm hoping to talk to a few, trade tips on how to manage a work day. I've noticed that the usual time management structures don't work. One, we often have to keep emails open so that we immediately know about apps being down, so there goes only checking a couple of times a day. I've also tried scheduling when in a day I would work on a project, but that doesn't do too well either; see #1 as to why. And so on. Any tips would be appreciated.

Idea Person
I’m in the middle of going through a course at work, on time management. One of the four types of people described was the Idea person, whose traits pretty much exactly match mine. Idea people come up with good ways to tackle problems. However, their enthusiasm toward the project can wan before the project itself ends. This can leave others implementing those projects. This can be a good or bad thing. Since my job requires me to both come up with the idea and implement it, it tends to burn me.
Right now, there have been a couple of projects that have been assigned to me that have dragged on for months. They are finally being completed; however I am not the one that is actually doing the work. I don’t know if that will actually work against me or not. Either way, in my mind it does, because I am not the one that completed the projects.
